**Job title:** Head of Sales and Commercial
**Role Summary:**
Lead the end‑to‑end commercial function for a meat manufacturing business, owning strategy, pricing, sales, and planning. Deliver growth, margin, and risk balance while building a data‑driven, integrated commercial team and supporting operational alignment with procurement, finance, and operations.
**Expactations:**
- Charge through all commercial phases—from strategy design to execution—while maintaining operational clarity.
- Actively manage detailed processes and remain site‑visible, ensuring rapid decision making.
- Champion digital and process improvement initiatives and embed sustainability and compliance standards into every commercial decision.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Own and execute the commercial strategy covering sales, pricing, and planning.
- Lead an integrated Sales & Planning process aligned with livestock intake, production capability, and customer demand.
- Develop and manage pricing strategy using market data, indices, and competitive intelligence to protect margins.
- Drive key customer relationships, contract negotiation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strengthen commercial data, systems, and reporting for better decision making.
- Ensure alignment with Finance on budgets, forecasts, and KPIs.
- Build, coach, and succession‑plan a high‑performing commercial team.
- Embed sustainability, animal welfare, and regulatory compliance across all commercial activities.
- Promote digital and process improvement throughout the commercial function.
**Required Skills:**
- Senior commercial leadership in food manufacturing, preferably meat, with deep knowledge of beef/protein markets.
- Expertise in carcass balance, pricing, and margin management.
- Proven ability to lead integrated sales and planning in complex environments.
- Hands‑on, visible leadership style with strong operational awareness.
- Data‑oriented, converting insights into actionable strategy.
- Excellent negotiation and relationship management with customers, suppliers, farmers, and internal stakeholders.
- Talent development focus: coaching, building capability, and succession planning.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Agriculture, or related field.
- Additional qualifications in sales, marketing, or commercial management are advantageous.
- Certifications in Supply Chain Management or Food Safety (e.g., ISO 22000, HACCP) preferred.
