Job Description
**Job title:** Security Officer **Role Summary:** Provide continuous protection and safety services for a hospital and affiliated properties. Patrol premises, respond to emergencies, enforce policies, assist patients and staff, and contribute to security program development and training. **Expectations:** - Work full‑time, 12‑hour shifts (day 7 a.m.–7 p.m. or night 7 p.m.–7 a.m.), three shifts per week (36 hrs). - Remain flexible for duty calls per diem. - Maintain professionalism, calm de‑escalation skills, and adherence to safety protocols at all times. **Key Responsibilities:** - Initiate & receive communications via phone, radio, email, or computer. - Patrol hospital and connected facilities; observe and document security incidents. - Respond to emergency codes, assist with evacuation or restraint as necessary. - Conduct security audits, evaluate protective measures, prepare reports, and recommend actions. - Serve as a resource for staff on safety & security issues. - Develop and deliver security awareness training and in‑service education. - Participate in security and safety committees; review and update policies and procedures. - Maintain professional competence through ongoing education and industry awareness. **Required Skills:** - Effective verbal and written communication. - Basic computer skills (email, reporting systems). - Ability to de‑escalate conflicts calmly and professionally. - Sound judgment and decision‑making in critical situations. - Team collaboration and independent execution. - Physical ability to move, lift, and restrain when necessary. **Required Education & Certifications:** - High School diploma or GED (minimum). - Valid Florida driver’s license and State of Florida Class D Security License (required upon hire). - Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Safety Administration, Security, or related field preferred. - Equivalent military, law‑enforcement, fire‑department, or emergency‑response experience may substitute for education. - Must pass “Management of Aggressive Behavior” assessment after employment.
