Job title: Category Manager – Apparel
Role Summary:
Own and grow the apparel category within a new high‑priority commerce initiative. Drive end‑to‑end category strategy, supplier acquisition, and market‑driven activations to increase supply, engagement, and GMV.
Expectations:
- Deliver quarterly growth targets for supply, engagement, and revenue.
- Establish and monitor leading indicators and operating rhythms.
- Scale from single‑threaded owner to broader apparel portfolio and team leader as the category expands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute apparel growth strategy across the platform.
- Own category performance metrics (supply, engagement, revenue).
- Set quarterly goals, leading indicators, and operating cycles.
- Maintain deep knowledge of apparel culture, sub‑segments, seasonal drops, pricing, liquidity, and resale economics.
- Build and manage a pipeline of high‑impact sellers, designers, influencers, and brands.
- Recruit and onboard flagship sellers that set the platform tone.
- Develop seller strategies that balance credibility, storytelling, and commerce.
- Identify and orchestrate category‑specific moments, campaigns, and formats that drive engagement and conversion.
- Partner with Category Marketing on culturally authentic activations.
- Experiment, iterate, and report on performance to refine tactics.
- Collaborate with Account, Partnerships, Product, and Engineering teams to scale acquisition and shape features.
- Provide actionable market insights for product roadmap prioritization.
- Document learnings, frameworks, and best practices for future categories.
- Support hiring and onboarding as the apparel team grows.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years in category management, partnerships, marketplace growth, brand, or operator roles in apparel, streetwear, or related ecosystems.
- Deep understanding of second‑hand fashion culture, sellers, creators, designers, and market dynamics.
- Proven ability to own outcomes, execute strategies, iterate, and adapt.
- Strong relationship‑building skills with credibility among sellers, creators, and community members.
- Data‑literate and commercially minded; proficiency in pricing, margins, liquidity, and incentive analysis.
- Entrepreneurial, scrappy mindset with experience building initiatives from the ground up.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field (preferred).
- Any relevant certifications in category management, marketing, or data analytics are a plus.
