**Job Title:** Generative AI Engineer
**Role Summary:**
Design, develop, and deliver custom internal tools and automation workflows using Abacus.ai (or comparable low‑code AI platforms) and large language models (LLMs). Transform loosely defined business requirements into production‑ready software, integrate third‑party services, and ensure reliability, documentation, and repeatable processes. Part‑time, 3–6 month contract, remote with occasional on‑site collaboration in Metro Detroit, MI.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver minimum viable products (MVPs) within 1–2 weeks per tool.
- Produce stable, well‑documented API/webhook integrations.
- Ensure LLM outputs are consistent, testable, and meet defined acceptance criteria.
- Establish a repeatable build pipeline for replacing subscription software.
- Maintain consistent weekly availability and provide progress demos.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Build custom internal applications and LLM‑driven workflows on Abacus.ai or similar platforms.
- Convert rough specs into workflow diagrams, data schemas, and clear “definition of done”.
- Implement integrations with ATS/CRM, email/SMS, databases, and other third‑party APIs.
- Develop LLM features such as scoring, summarization, extraction, structured decisioning, and automated outreach.
- Add reliability layers: error handling, logging, retries, and basic monitoring.
- Document configurations and code to enable maintenance and future reuse.
- Release software in small, frequent iterations and demo progress weekly.
**Required Skills:**
- Proven hands‑on experience with Abacus.ai or an equivalent low‑code AI platform.
- Direct experience building end‑to‑end solutions using LLMs (prompt design, structured output, evaluation/iteration).
- Ability to create custom software or automation beyond prompt engineering.
- Strong API/webhook integration skills (e.g., ATS/CRM, email, SMS, databases).
- Familiarity with error handling, logging, and basic monitoring practices.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and documentation abilities.
**Nice‑to‑Have Skills:**
- Experience with Retool, n8n, Zapier, or Make.
- Basic full‑stack development (light UI, database, authentication).
- Twilio/telephony integration experience.
- Integration experience with ATS/CRM systems (Bullhorn a plus).
- Knowledge of data privacy and security best practices for candidate/customer data.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related field **or** equivalent professional experience.
- No specific certifications required; demonstrable project portfolio with relevant tools is sufficient.
