**Job Title:** Senior Network Security Engineer
**Role Summary:**
Architect, implement, and maintain secure network infrastructures for a major public‑facing organization. Manage firewalls, VPNs, proxies, load balancers, and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solutions across on‑premises and cloud environments. Continuously monitor, audit, and respond to security incidents, while automating network tasks to improve reliability and efficiency.
**Expectations:**
- Own end‑to‑end security design and execution.
- Work autonomously with minimal supervision, yet collaborate closely with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams.
- Commit to on‑site presence three days per week, with occasional night shifts.
- Maintain a proactive, detail‑oriented, and results‑driven mindset.
- Demonstrate adaptability, stress‑resilience, and curiosity for emerging technologies.
- Communicate effectively in French or Dutch (excellent proficiency) and possess working proficiency in English.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Design and deploy network security architectures, including firewalls, VPNs, proxies, WAFs, load balancers, and ZTNA.
- Configure and optimize secure connectivity with ISPs, ExpressRoute, Wi‑Fi, DNS, and TACACS.
- Monitor network and security systems continuously for anomalies, threats, and performance issues.
- Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and compliance checks.
- Detect, analyze, and remediate security incidents, performing root‑cause analysis.
- Provide advanced technical support across infrastructure, cloud, and application domains.
- Automate network and security processes through scripting to enhance operational efficiency.
- Mentor and guide junior team members and domain leads as needed.
**Required Skills:**
- Extensive experience in network management, routing, switching (dynamic/static, inter‑domain, MPLS).
- Deep knowledge of enterprise firewalls, VPN technologies, proxies, web application firewalls, and load balancing.
- Hands‑on expertise in cloud security, data protection in transit and at rest, and secure cloud access.
- Strong understanding of ZTNA principles and secure access architecture.
- Proficiency in threat detection, vulnerability management, and incident response.
- Solid grasp of operating systems used in network environments, security standards, cryptographic protocols, and scripting for automation.
- Analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Leadership and mentoring experience, with a collaborative team orientation.
- Excellent communication skills in French or Dutch; good English proficiency.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Professional networking and security certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, CISSP, CEH, GCIH, or similar) are highly preferred, though not mandatory.
