Job Title:
Enterprise IT Architect (Freelance)
Role Summary:
Lead the design, consolidation, and governance of enterprise application architecture for large‑scale public‑sector initiatives. Translate strategic objectives into executable target architectures, ensuring alignment with evolving business and IT needs while driving digital transformation and architectural quality.
Expectations:
* 14‑month, full‑time freelance engagement focused on shaping a unified, high‑quality application landscape.
* Deliver architectural artifacts, impact analyses, and roadmaps that inform strategic decision‑making and support buy‑vs‑build business cases.
* Champion architectural standards, mentor peers, and collaborate cross‑functionally with business, IT, and development stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and consolidate integrated application architecture across enterprise projects.
* Identify, document, and structure applications, components, and functions supporting transversal processes.
* Develop and maintain product catalog and logical application landscape, mapping interdependencies.
* Continuously update deliverables to reflect changing business and IT requirements.
* Shape intermediate and target architectures; translate strategic goals into actionable designs.
* Conduct impact analysis, scenario planning, and provide clear, actionable insights for decision makers.
* Contribute to business cases, RFPs, master plans, and proof‑of‑concept initiatives.
* Develop transformation roadmaps, identifying dependencies, risks, and priorities.
* Ensure compliance with architectural quality standards across solutions and teams.
* Apply recognized Application Architecture standards, adapting to sector‑specific needs.
* Coach and mentor other architects, fostering adoption of principles and reference models.
* Facilitate cross‑domain collaboration among architects, PMs, analysts, and developers.
Required Skills:
* Expert proficiency in .NET, Java, TOGAF, ITABOK, Agile/Scrum.
* Strong analytical and strategic mindset with experience in impact analysis and scenario planning.
* Deep understanding of legacy application evaluation, migration strategies, and integration with new platforms.
* Proven leadership in architectural governance and stakeholder alignment.
* Excellent communication and facilitation skills; ability to simplify complex challenges.
* Experience in change management, guiding transformation, and managing resistance.
* Multidisciplinary teamwork and collaboration across cross‑functional groups.
* Autonomous, result‑driven with measurable impact focus.
* Public sector experience, especially pension systems or Belgian social security, is a plus.
* Language proficiency: Dutch, English, French (active knowledge required).
Required Education & Certifications:
* Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related engineering field.
* Relevant certifications: TOGAF, ITABOK, Agile/Scrum.
* Advanced knowledge of .NET and Java frameworks.
