Job Description

**Job Title:** Cyber Security Engineer **Role Summary:** Responsible for securing the organization’s digital estate within a fast‑growing space‑technology environment. Works in a DevSecOps team to monitor infrastructure, detect and remediate threats, implement layered defenses, and ensure compliance with security standards and certifications. **Expectations:** - Obtain UK SC or DV clearance. - Proactive, detail‑oriented, and capable of operating in a high‑tempo, on‑call rotation. - Strong communication with technical and non‑technical stakeholders. - Continuous learner who shares knowledge and drives security improvements. **Key Responsibilities:** *Technical Operations (≈70%)* - Build and maintain real‑time security monitoring and alerting. - Perform continuous threat monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability assessments. - Manage credentialing, access controls, and detect anomalous activity. - Design and implement multi‑layered defenses for data protection. - Lead technical security initiatives and provide threat intelligence to development teams. *Project Management & Governance (≈30%)* - Own the Cyber Security Risk Register and produce regular security/compliance reports. - Develop and deliver security awareness training. - Maintain security policies, standards, procedures, and documentation. - Support attainment of cybersecurity accreditations and certifications. - Stay current on emerging cyber‑crime tactics and counter‑measures. **Required Skills:** - Securing AWS environments (essential); Azure/Azure Defender experience a plus. - Python scripting and Windows/Linux shell scripting for tooling. - Strong grasp of IT infrastructure (hardware, software, networking). - Experience with vulnerability scanning, incident response, and security monitoring platforms. - Knowledge of GDPR compliance and security frameworks (e.g., Cyber Essentials Plus, NIST 800‑171, CMMC). - Analytical, forensic, and problem‑solving abilities. - Ability to multitask and collaborate with software development teams. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, IT, or equivalent practical experience. - Eligibility for UK Security Check (SC) or Defence Vetting (DV). - Relevant certifications or experience aligning with industry standards (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, AWS Security Specialty) are advantageous.
