**Job title:** Electrical Engineer **Role Summary:** Serve as the sole electrical authority within a clean‑water utility’s M&E team, providing design governance, technical direction, and assurance for capital projects, including a major water‑to‑water (WTW) upgrade. Operate independently while influencing outcomes and supporting mechanical colleagues across the asset portfolio. **Expectations:** - Act as the single electrical expert in a lean in‑house M&E function. - Work autonomously with full decision‑making authority on electrical design. - Deliver high‑level technical oversight on major capital schemes and construction activities. - Challenge and validate designs from external contractors. - Apply HV engineering knowledge for protection, integration, and safety standards. - Engage with internal and external stakeholders to drive project delivery. **Key Responsibilities:** - Provide electrical leadership and assurance for all capital projects. - Review and challenge EICA and external contractor designs. - Develop outline and functional electrical solutions for new builds and upgrades. - Support generator and asset upgrade strategies. - Conduct site assessments to evaluate condition and recommend improvements. - Oversee construction, installation, and commissioning phases. - Execute HV engineering studies, including protection and integration. - Draft specifications, support tender reviews, and aid contractor selection. - Perform feasibility studies and prepare option appraisals. - Review and update internal electrical standards. - Liaise with mechanical, civil, and project teams. - Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental regulations. - Provide technical support during incidents and operational events. **Required Skills:** - Extensive electrical engineering experience in water, utilities, or comparable industrial sectors. - Proven ability in consultancy or contractor‑led design environments. - Independent decision‑making and judgment in a single‑person specialist role. - Strong knowledge of HV systems (design, protection, integration). - Proficient in reviewing designs, drafting specifications, and conducting feasibility studies. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management. - Ability to deliver technical assurance and governance under tight timelines. - Familiarity with safety, quality, and environmental compliance requirements. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. - Professional engineering registration (e.g., BEng, MEng, or equivalent) preferred. - UK right to work. ---
