Job title: Freelance Platform Engineer – Long Term
Role Summary: Build, operate, and continuously enhance a Kubernetes‑based platform infrastructure, focusing on observability, monitoring, incident response, and automation to ensure high reliability and scalability across cloud and on‑prem environments.
Expectations: Deliver stable, automated, and well‑observed infrastructure; collaborate with DevOps, SRE, and development teams; lead incident investigations and implement reliability improvements; provide code contributions in Python, Go, or Bash.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and maintain Kubernetes platforms serving multiple applications.
- Optimize Linux infrastructure in cloud or on‑prem setups.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, Bicep, Ansible, or equivalent.
- Ensure platform scalability, availability, and performance.
- Architect and operate observability solutions covering metrics, logs, and traces.
- Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, and log analytics (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Elastic, OpenTelemetry).
- Lead or support incident response, root cause analysis, and post‑incident reviews.
- Implement reliability improvements derived from incident findings.
- Develop automation tools to reduce manual operations.
- Apply engineering best practices to platform development and operations.
- Contribute code in Python, Go, Bash, or similar.
Required Skills:
- Strong Kubernetes architecture and operational experience.
- Proficiency in Linux system administration (cloud & on‑prem).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Bicep, Ansible).
- Deep knowledge of observability: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry.
- Incident response and root cause analysis expertise.
- Automation skills (Python, Go, Bash scripting).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration across DevOps, SRE, and development teams.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Kubernetes Administrator, AWS/Azure/GCP Cloud Engineer, Terraform Associate, etc.) are advantageous.
