Freelance Platform Engineer - Large Transformation Project - Long Term

We are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to build, operate, and continuously improve our core platform infrastructure. The role has a strong focus on observability, monitoring, and incident response, ensuring platform reliability and performance at scale. You will work closely with DevOps, SRE, and development teams to provide a stable, automated, and well-observed Kubernetes-based platform.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain Kubernetes-based platforms supporting multiple applications and services.
Manage and optimise Linux-based infrastructure in cloud and/or on-prem environments.
Implement Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, Ansible, or similar.
Ensure platform scalability, availability, and performance.
Design and operate observability solutions covering metrics, logs, and traces.
Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting systems (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Elastic, OpenTelemetry).
Lead or support incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews.
Implement reliability improvements based on incident learnings.
Develop automation and tooling to reduce manual operational work.
Apply engineering best practices to platform development and operations.
Contribute code in Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages.
