Job title: Design Engineer Role Summary: Electrical Protection Design Engineer responsible for leading the technical design, delivery, and commissioning of protection systems for electrical substations within grid automation and transmission projects. Acts as the primary technical liaison between customers, project managers, and engineering teams, ensuring solutions meet specifications, safety, and quality standards. Expactations: Deliver complete protection system solutions from concept through site acceptance, manage technical scope, risks, and budgets, facilitate FAT/SAT, and provide technical support during commissioning. Required Skills: - 5+ years protection and electrical design engineering for substations. - In‑depth knowledge of protection functions, schemes, and cubicle design. - Relay configuration expertise and network study proficiency. - Strong communication, problem‑solving, and stakeholder management. - Independent problem solver, adaptable to high‑pressure settings. - UK and international travel readiness, valid UK driving licence. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. - Relevant industry certifications (e.g., IEC, NEC) preferred.

Expactations: - Maintain robust safety governance and regulatory compliance for all electrical installations. - Provide expert advice and leadership to authorised and competent persons. - Drive continuous improvement initiatives and audit programs. Key Responsibilities: - Authorize and validate HV/LV electrical systems under WTSR framework. - Develop, implement, and monitor safe systems of work. - Lead electrical safety governance, audits, and performance reviews. - Support teams in maintaining high standards of electrical safety and operational performance. - Liaise with stakeholders to ensure alignment of safety objectives.
