Job Description

Job title: Design Engineer Role Summary: Electrical Protection Design Engineer responsible for leading the technical design, delivery, and commissioning of protection systems for electrical substations within grid automation and transmission projects. Acts as the primary technical liaison between customers, project managers, and engineering teams, ensuring solutions meet specifications, safety, and quality standards. Expactations: Deliver complete protection system solutions from concept through site acceptance, manage technical scope, risks, and budgets, facilitate FAT/SAT, and provide technical support during commissioning. Must collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, resolve technical issues, and adapt to fast‑paced project environments. Key Responsibilities: - Lead end‑to‑end technical delivery across project lifecycle. - Analyze customer specifications and produce technical documentation. - Coordinate with customers, PMs, and internal teams on scope, risks, and cost. - Specify IEDs, configure software, and maintain compliance with safety/quality standards. - Investigate and resolve protection‑related issues, supporting site teams. - Lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT). Required Skills: - 5+ years protection and electrical design engineering for substations. - In‑depth knowledge of protection functions, schemes, and cubicle design. - Relay configuration expertise and network study proficiency. - Strong communication, problem‑solving, and stakeholder management. - Independent problem solver, adaptable to high‑pressure settings. - UK and international travel readiness, valid UK driving licence. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. - Relevant industry certifications (e.g., IEC, NEC) preferred.

Job Description

Job Title: Authorising Engineer Role Summary: Oversee and authorize HV/LV electrical systems across offshore wind operations to ensure safety, compliance, and operational excellence. Lead governance, audits, and continuous improvement of electrical safety practices within the portfolio. Expactations: - Maintain robust safety governance and regulatory compliance for all electrical installations. - Provide expert advice and leadership to authorised and competent persons. - Drive continuous improvement initiatives and audit programs. Key Responsibilities: - Authorize and validate HV/LV electrical systems under WTSR framework. - Develop, implement, and monitor safe systems of work. - Lead electrical safety governance, audits, and performance reviews. - Support teams in maintaining high standards of electrical safety and operational performance. - Liaise with stakeholders to ensure alignment of safety objectives. Required Skills: - Proven experience as an Authorising Engineer or in senior electrical safety roles within offshore wind or power generation. - Deep knowledge of WTSR, HV/LV authorisation processes, and electrical safety management systems. - Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership capabilities. - Ability to conduct audits, identify risks, and implement remediation plans.
