Job title: IT Desktop Support Technician
Role Summary: Provide on‑site, day‑to‑day desktop, peripheral, and small‑network support for an enterprise user base. Resolve hardware and software issues, perform imaging, and assist with conference room equipment maintenance. Work one weekday per week, maintaining high availability and compliance with security and warranty requirements.
Expectations:
- Deliver efficient, first‑contact resolution for end‑user IT incidents.
- Maintain accurate ticket logs and documentation.
- Conduct smart‑hand tasks such as device installation, cabling, and small‑scale network device support.
- Identify recurring problems, generate preventive actions, and contribute to problem‑management processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, monitors, keyboards, mice, fax machines, scanners, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Perform OS administration (Windows, macOS, Linux) and basic network configuration (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, RDP).
- Image PCs and deploy applications, ensuring alignment with corporate security and compliance.
- Resolve Outlook and other software issues, including conference room AV/telephony setups.
- Use ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Remedy) to record incidents, solutions, and follow‑ups.
- Conduct repeat‑call analysis and implement preventive measures.
- Lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs; travel to multiple sites for smart‑hand duties.
Required Skills:
- 3–5 years of IT infrastructure support experience.
- Proficient in desktop hardware repair and peripheral troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of LAN/WAN concepts and small‑network device support.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, RDP.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve end‑user network cabling issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; customer‑focused.
- Self‑directed, results‑oriented, and able to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Associate Degree in Electronics or related field.
- CompTIA A+ (required); OEM vendor certifications (Dell, Toshiba, Lenovo, etc.) preferred.
- Experience with ticketing tools (ServiceNow, Remedy).
