Job Description
**Job Title:** Devops Engineer – SC Cleared **Role Summary:** Apply SC clearance to a long‑term DevOps role supporting a high‑profile public sector client. Primarily remote with one day per month in London. Deliver and maintain secure cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and distributed systems using AWS, Kubernetes, and related tooling. **Expectations:** - Maintain SC clearance at all times. - Work independently with a remote team, attending one on‑site day per month. - Design, deploy, and manage secure, scalable cloud solutions for public sector applications. - Ensure compliance with security, audit, and governance policies. **Key Responsibilities:** - Build and manage AWS-based infrastructure (EKS clusters, VPCs, IAM, security groups). - Author and maintain Terraform modules for reusable, version‑controlled infrastructure. - Package, version, and deploy applications using Helm charts on Kubernetes. - Develop and maintain Jenkins pipelines for continuous integration and delivery. - Manage Kafka clusters for event streaming and messaging. - Configure and administer Keycloak for authentication and authorization. - Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise system performance and reliability. - Collaborate with security, networking, and application teams to comply with public sector requirements. **Required Skills:** - Strong experience with AWS (including EKS, IAM, VPC, CloudFormation/Terraform). - Proficiency in Terraform scripting and module design. - Deep knowledge of Kubernetes concepts, Helm, and cluster operations. - Hands‑on experience with Jenkins pipeline scripting (Groovy/Jenkinsfile). - Working knowledge of Kafka and related ecosystem (ZooKeeper, Confluent). - Experience configuring Keycloak or similar identity providers (OIDC, SAML). - Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automation, and version control (Git). - Familiarity with monitoring/alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK). - Ability to enforce security best practices and audit compliance. - Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills. **Required Education & Certifications:** - SC (Security Clearance) – active and current. - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). - Preferable certifications: - AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional or equivalent. - Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA). - Terraform Associate (optional). - Demonstrated experience in a public sector or regulated environment is highly valued.
