Junior Electrical Design Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Junior Electrical Design Engineer Role Summary: Entry‑level engineer supporting electrical design for residential and commercial building service projects, including drafting, calculations, and documentation under senior supervision. Expactations: Anticipate an early‑career professional with basic engineering knowledge, no prior design experience required; must demonstrate strong willingness to learn, adapt to UK regulations, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary design team. Key Responsibilities: • Assist with electrical building services design tasks for residential and commercial projects. • Produce drawings using CAD software (preferably AutoCAD). • Perform basic lighting calculations in Dialux or Relux. • Prepare technical documentation and drawings. • Ensure compliance with British Standards (BS 7671 18th Edition) and UK regulations. • Attend internal design meetings and provide support to senior engineers. Required Skills: • Basic proficiency in CAD (AutoCAD preferred). • Familiarity with Dialux or Relux for lighting design. • Understanding of BS 7671 18th Edition electrical wiring regulations. • Introductory knowledge of fire alarm design systems. • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. • Effective communication and teamwork skills. • Eagerness to learn and develop within a structured design environment. Required Education & Certifications: • Relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or equivalent (or currently working towards it).
