About the Role
We're seeking a Senior Java Developer (Freelance) to join our client's Data Management domain, supporting critical ICT applications in Market Operations. This is a 12-month freelance assignment based in Melle, where your expertise will directly impact the reliability and evolution of essential business systems. You'll be at the heart of a team that values ownership, technical excellence, and proactive problem-solving -- building solutions that matter at scale.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the development, maintenance, and enhancement of Java-based applications within the Data Management domain.
Analyze, design, and implement new functionalities in collaboration with designers and analysts.
Take full ownership of incident follow-up, bug fixing, and user support, ensuring high system availability.
Drive technical problem analysis and propose efficient, scalable solutions.
Share knowledge and insights within the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Produce clear technical documentation and perform software upgrades as required.
Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, contributing to project planning and delivery.
Provide feedback on process and system improvements, championing best practices.
Technical Skills & Experience
Minimum 5 years of demonstrable experience developing Java/J2EE applications in enterprise environments.
Proven expertise with Spring MVC, Hibernate, Maven2, and JBOSS middleware (EAP, Fuse).
Strong experience with frontend technologies: HTML, JavaScript, JQuery.
Hands-on knowledge of GIT or similar source control systems.
Solid understanding of JBoss administration on RedHat Linux environments.
Experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL, etc.).
Demonstrable experience with Unit Testing and Agile development methodologies.
Familiarity with ITIL processes (incident, problem, change, release management).
Experience supporting applications in large-scale business contexts (user base >1500).
Relevant certifications or equivalent experience in Java/J2EE programming environments.
Language Proficiency
Fluency in Dutch at European CEFR level C2 is mandatory (spoken and written).
Other Requirements
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within Agile/Scrum teams.
Strong communication skills and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
Commitment to knowledge sharing and collaborative problem-solving.
