Job Title : IT Support Engineer

Location: Aldermaston, near Reading, Berkshire

Contract Duration: 7 months

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Clearance: SC (Security Check) clearance is mandatory

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Analyst III, Infrastructure Services to join our team for a critical project. This contract role is a key part of a large-scale hardware and software tech refresh of approximately 5,000 Microsoft Surface Pro devices. This position is designed to assist with peak workload requirements and is based on-site at a secure location. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication, and a solid technical background in a corporate IT environment.

Responsibilities:

Confirm user and time slots using a booking tool (ServiceNow).
Perform Windows 11 upgrades on Microsoft Surface Pro devices.
Rebuild or replace devices that are not Windows 11 capable.
Install applications, peripherals, and add devices to relevant Active Directory (AD) groups.
Troubleshoot devices and applications.
Perform system health checks and manage disk space.
Provide customer-facing support and orientation to users.
Update user records and inventory.

Qualifications:

Experience with Microsoft Surface Pro devices or similar hardware.
Knowledge of Windows 10 & 11, including troubleshooting and administration.
Some experience with Active Directory (AD).
Some knowledge of SCCM TS building.
Experience in a customer-facing role.
Knowledge of device BIOS and Windows Administration (HDD cleanup).
ServiceNow knowledge is desirable.

Required Skills:

The successful candidate must hold or be eligible to obtain SC Security Clearance.
Due to the nature of the work, dual nationals cannot be considered.
Standard background and screening checks will be conducted, including criminal history, employment, and education checks for the last five years.

Preferred Skills:

Windows 11 upgrades on Microsoft Surface Pro devices.
