G Systems, Inc., a growing technology company, seeks a Controller for full-time permanent employment at our facility in Irving, Texas, located within the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Founded in 1990, G Systems is an engineering services and electronics manufacturing company specializing in the design, system integration and production of custom test and measurement systems in the aerospace and defense industries.

Job Description

The Controller position has direct responsibility for the finance and accounting operations of the company. This includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk.

The controller is also responsible for enhancing the timeliness and accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

The Controller position reports to the CEO. The company is a private, closely held small business. This position is in-person in an office environment (not remote). The company culture promotes work/life balance, therefore, this position requires 40-hour flex-time week.

Working in a small business organization, the controller will be directly engaged in accounting activities as well as oversee and review the work of direct reports that manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.

Duties Include But Are Not Limited To

Planning, directing, and coordinating all finance and accounting operational functions
Maintains and enforces a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
Managing the accumulation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of business results
Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements
Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process
Managing the budget and forecast process
Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes
Evaluating accounting and internal control systems
Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting databases
Managing and preparing earned value job cost reporting
Developing and monitoring business performance metrics
Overseeing tax planning and managing corporate tax reporting by outsourced CPA
Managing HR benefits administration through third-party providers

Required Qualifications

5+ years of progressively responsible relevant experience with a small or middle market business
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration, or equivalent business experience. A master's degree in business administration (MBA) is a plus
Solid communication, technology, analytical and management skills
Knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Excellent verbal and written communication, and excellent presentation skills
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word
Eligibility for ITAR and defense contract work. (US Person)
Sage, Peachtree Accounting experience is a plus
Experience in Aerospace/Defense/Space industries is a plus
ERP experience (sourcing, use, implementation) is a plus
Experience in Defense Contracting Accounting - DCAA compliance is a plus

The Company is in growth stage with expected creation of in-house CFO position within 2 years. Therefore, a career path opportunity exists for promotion from Controller to CFO role. Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation not required.
