We strive to attract and retain candidates who exemplify our values: performance, perseverance, progress and partnership. Taxwell is an organization of forward thinkers looking to add industry experts to our growing team.
We are seeking a Generative AI Engineer to design and build AI-powered tools that transform how our engineers build, test, and ship software. This role is focused on embedding LLMs, agent-based systems, and automation into core development workflows--boosting productivity, reducing manual toil, and accelerating delivery.
This is a strategic, hands-on role for a seasoned technical engineer with a track record of shipping AI-enhanced tooling used by engineering teams.
Responsibilities
Design and build AI-driven developer tools that enhance workflows such as test generation, code documentation, onboarding, and code review.
Develop and refine LLM workflows and prompt engineering strategies using models such as Claude (or similar), GPT-4, and open-weight models like LLaMA and Mistral.
Integrate AI tooling (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Anthropic/Claude APIs, OpenAI APIs) into developer environments including IDEs (VSCode, JetBrains) and CI/CD systems.
Build retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines with vector databases (Pinecone, FAISS, Chroma) to ground outputs in internal code and documentation.
Architect and implement multi-agent workflows and orchestration layers using frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or AutoGen.
Collaborate with Platform, DevOps, and Developer Experience teams to embed AI into infrastructure and workflows.
Measure and improve impact using telemetry, developer feedback, and automated performance metrics.
Qualifications
10+ years of software engineering experience (or equivalent depth in building large-scale systems), with at least 2-4 years applying LLMs, generative AI, or agent-based frameworks in production.
Track record of building developer tools, productivity platforms, or internal copilots.
Proven experience delivering LLM-powered applications using prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, or agent orchestration.
Strong proficiency in Python (production-grade tooling, libraries, packaging, testing).
Hands-on experience with Claude (or similar models) including API/SDK integration, tool use/functions, and structured outputs.
Familiarity with orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen) and multi-agent workflows.
Strong working knowledge of CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins).
Experience deploying systems on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Familiarity with embedding models and vector databases.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building or contributing to AI copilots, developer assistants, or IDE-integrated AI tools.
Hands-on experience fine-tuning or customizing LLMs (e.g., LLaMA 3, Mistral)
Background working in regulated industries (e.g., fintech, tax, healthcare).
