The Transportation department in Hartford, CT is looking for a civil engineering intern to help work on various projects predominately focused on traffic design.

Our internship program is a 12-week paid summer program. We offer in depth work experience on real client projects in a supportive and collaborative environment. The position is full-time Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in traffic studies and data collection
Analyze traffic flow and patterns using specialized software
Support the design and implementation of traffic control devices (e.g., signals, signs, and pavement markings)
Conduct field observations and surveys related to traffic conditions
Prepare technical reports and documentation for traffic analysis
Collaborate with senior engineers on traffic impact assessments for new developments
Assist in developing solutions for traffic congestion and safety issues
Use AutoCAD and other design tools to create traffic-related drawings and plans

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Pursuing a degree in civil engineering and/or transportation engineering
3.0 GPA or higher
Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and/or similar programs is a plus
Proficiency with MS Office programs
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. of equipment
