As we develop an enterprise-wide data and digital strategy that moves us toward greater focus on the use of data and strengthen our digital, AI capabilities, we are seeking an AI Application Portfolio Owner. In this role, you will plan and lead continuous development of the enterprise AI-enabled business applications and tools, achieving adoption in key user segments in AXA XL.
The app portfolio must be developed and managed in line with software engineering best practice and in line with Architectural, Security and AI Governance.
Our app platform tech stack continues to evolve, including Azure Databricks, Kubernetes, Azure AI services.
What you'll be doing
What will your essential responsibilities include?
Together with Business Product Owner, use Agile best practice to plan and prioritise execution of user-facing and technical features of AI applications.
Collaborate with Architecture and Data and AI Platforms teams to define higher-level solution and technical designs for data and AI applications.
Develop and own data and AI software application design that is coherent, maintainable and scalable and delivered to the agreed architecture plan.
Be accountable for transition of applications between lifecycle stages - from proving to developing, testing, operating, growing and decommissioning.
Be accountable for successful transition of applications to operations and providing necessary documentation and 3rd line developer support.
Be articulate before stakeholders about strategic use of technical debt, and accountable for its remediation.
Collaborate with Data and AI Platforms team on planning and proving new platforms features and improving their capability to accommodate incoming demand from applications.
Be accountable and responsible for correct IT records of all applications in the portfolio: application infrastructure registers, owner information, data classification and other application records.
Be accountable and own any risk remediation actions against your application portfolio such as upgrades to hosting infrastructure and other risks.
Manage a team of up to 10 data science and application developers and contractual staff as required located in the US, UK and India.

What you'll bring
We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
The role is suitable for a senior data science professional with evidenced, demonstrable record of technical delivery of applications in adherence with software best practices.
Alternatively, an engineering manager with demonstrable record of data and data science applications.
Excellent knowledge and experience of application development patterns particularly in space of web applications, coupled with effective understanding of Python (preferred) or other languages (considered).
Solid Agile experience. We use Scrum, but Kanban experience is also valuable to us.
Prior experience as technical product owner, app portfolio manager would be beneficial.
Prior experience as a manager of data scientists and software developers.
Desirable: prior experience with technologies such as Azure AI, Databricks, LLMs, Kubernetes.
Desirable: demonstrable record of app development for handling of unstructured data using AI technologies.
