THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 12 MONTHS (28/11/2026) DUE TO MATERNITY COVER.

We currently have a vacancy for a temporary Band 6 Caseload Holder working 34 hours per week in Grove Road District Nursing Team. This post is temporary for 12 months to cover Maternity Leave starting from 30th November 2025.

The post holder will be responsible to the Band 7 Team Leader.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will need to have excellent communication skills with an ability to provide effective, high quality care.

The post holder must hold a Community Specialist Practitioner qualification and be a registered Nurse Prescriber. Applications will also be considered from Community Nurses who are currently undertaking their Specialist Practitioner qualification in District Nursing.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential Criteria

Qualifications and / or Knowledge

NMC Registered first level nurse
District Nursing / Certificate, diploma, degree or working towards
Nurse prescribing qualification or working towards
Evidence of ongoing education and professional development
Mentorship and assessment training

Desirable criteria

Management qualification e.g. ILM, RCN Leadership
Independent Prescribing - Following successful completion of the required qualification and annotation on the professional register, undertake Independent Prescribing (IP) for any medical condition within area of competence. Responsible and accountable for own independent prescribing practice in accordance with BCUHB Policies and Professional Codes at all times Maintain knowledge, skills and competency and escalate accordingly if outside scope of practice or competence

Experience

Essential criteria

Community experience as Band 5 or equivalent
Experience of working with patients who have acute / complex needs
Varied clinical experience and multi disciplinary working

Experience of undertaking audit
