We're looking for an AI and tech-savvy 3-5PQE lawyer with a strong appetite for clarity, human-centricity, and innovation, to become our new Plain Language Legal Engineer.
Working with a wide variety of team members (the Gen AI team, designers, legal counsels, project manager...), you'll be at the heart of the team, helping to drive impactful work for a wide variety of EU, US, and Asian customers. This is a unique opportunity to learn about the multi-disciplinary fields of human-centered legal innovation.
What will you be doing?
Our Plain Language Legal Engineers play a pivotal role in:
Translating complex legal language into plain language while ensuring the exact same scope and legal precision as the original text. We know plain language is hard to deliver, and we will provide you with the necessary training, based on ISO norms.
Working with our R&D Lab in identifying legal obligations that apply to dark patterns around the world, and more generally, digital obligations in jurisdictions we don't yet cover,
Analysing and integrating new legislations into the "legal backend" of our FairPatterns AI tool, conducting training audits and providing feedback to our tool,
Conducting research on AI fairness, AI explainability, and AI governance,
Conducting research on any news (legislation, case law, and studies) on deceptive design around the world

You can work remotely from a place that does not have more than 2 hours of difference with CET and/or at our office if you're in Paris, but proficiency in French and English is necessary (no exceptions)
Your profile
Legal background with a strong knowledge and understanding of privacy, consumer protection, and digital law
Strong experience in legal research
AI and tech-savvy
Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently
Self-starter who is ready to learn, adapt, and take initiative
Great attention to detail
Fluent in English and French
