SWIFT is seeking an exceptional DevOps Engineer with a strong background in Data Platform Engineering, specializing in the Kafka ecosystem and Kubernetes/OpenShift. This role is based in Belgium and sits within the Observability and Analytics Cluster under the DevOps Engineering Services organization.
As a DevOps/SRE Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic squad responsible for operating and expanding our Service Observability Platform. You will collaborate with global delivery teams, drive operational excellence, and make a substantial impact on the scalability, resiliency, and security of our data infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Coach and mentor junior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and best practices to support team success.
Develop and uphold industry-leading engineering practices to meet squad objectives and deliver high-quality outcomes.
Enhance the Observability Platform's availability, reliability, and self-service capabilities using DevOps and SRE principles.
Manage and optimize infrastructure performance, addressing large-scale telemetry data loads across bare metal, virtualized environments, Kubernetes/OpenShift.
Administer and evolve Kafka ecosystem components (Kafka Streams, Kafka Connect, KSQLDB) for robust stream processing.
Design and implement scalable data pipelines and ETL processes using Kafka and the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).
Automate infrastructure and deployment workflows using Ansible, Jenkins, ArgoCD, and Git.
Troubleshoot complex issues in distributed systems and ensure high availability and performance across platform workloads.
Required Skills & Experience:
Proven expertise in the Kafka ecosystem (Kafka Streams, KSQLDB, Kafka Connect).
Strong experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift deployments, including containerization (Docker or Podman).
Hands-on experience managing platforms built on the ELK stack.
Proficiency with DevOps tools: Jenkins, ArgoCD, Git, and Ansible.
Programming skills in Java or Python for automation and platform development.
Experience managing on-premises infrastructure (compute, storage, networking).
Ability to design and optimize ETL pipelines and data workflows for telemetry and log data.
Strong troubleshooting skills in distributed, high-availability environments.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and effective collaboration across time zones.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of OpenTelemetry standards for metrics, traces, and logs.
Understanding of architecture models such as UML or C4.
Foundational knowledge of Machine Learning concepts.
Certification or hands-on experience as an ELK data engineer.
Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience with demonstrated success in implementing and supporting data engineering platforms.
