THE POSITION

FanDuel is looking for a Senior Data Scientist who specializes in personalization, recommendation systems, and search/ranking models to join our team. In this role you will develop and implement advanced models focused on enhancing customer experiences and deepening our understanding of user behavior across marketing, product, and analytics. A strong background in personalization methods, ranking algorithms, and applied machine learning is highly valued. This role requires the ability to take ownership of open-ended, ambiguous problems, evaluate multiple approaches, and deliver production-ready solutions that directly impact the customer journey.
THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play
Develop and deploy machine learning models to drive personalized recommendations and user experiences across business units
Perform analysis on large and complex data sets utilizing relevant tools (SQL, Python, Spark) and provide strategic contributions
Use statistical and machine learning techniques to segment users and predict future behaviors, developing automated logic and decision algorithms to deliver a better experience to the customer
Lead projects from start to finish, set proper expectations, and collaborate with other data scientists, ML engineers, and product managers to communicate technical findings and support data driven decision making
Oversee the integration and deployment of cross-functional and cross-organizational projects, developing process improvements and technical leadership
Stay up to date on the latest advancements in data science and leverage cutting edge technology
Mentor, brainstorm with, and enable others within the DS team and broader Data organization
THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate
Bachelor’s degree needed in a highly numerate major (Computer Science, Math, Stats, Econ, etc.); MS degree preferred
5+ years of experience in Data Science creating and deploying models
Hands on experience working in personalization and recommendation systems, with strong understanding of the technical elements required to build and maintain advanced ranking models
Experience in experimentation to validate models' impact and ability to quantify that impact
Experience using user behavioral, promotional and marketing data in model building
Proficiency in SQL and Python
Experience with tech stacks such as MLFlow, Spark, and Databricks
Strong engineering skills: able to write production-level code, design scalable ML pipelines, and work closely with engineering teams on deployment
Comfortable with ambiguity and complexity
Interest in Sports and/or Sports Gaming preferred
Background in search/ranking models, with experience building production-facing search ranking or recommendation products
