Job Title: Senior Engineer

Job Type: Onsite, Full time

Location: Cardiff, Wales

About the Company:

We’re a team of passionate primary care specialists, medics, data informatics and industry experts who have come together to create simple, intuitive technologies which revolutionise how medical data is digitally reported and transacted.

The role is full-time with a market-competitive package. The role will be heavily involved in Medi2data’s in-house development team and be responsible for maintaining best practices and standards in software engineering whilst working with the HOD, Product team, internal engineers, and development partners in driving and ensuring high-quality programming and technical solutions.

We have several in-house platforms that we develop and maintain. Our current main product is a Django web app, managed with Terraform in GCP. We also have an internal and external REST API that we use to support internal static portals (using Cloudfront and lambdas) and external partners.

Now that we have proved our product to the market, we are looking for our next step. We are at an exciting crossroads where we are about to start on the next iteration of automating and using AI for the classification of medical data and medical evidence gathering.

About the Role:

We're looking for an experienced Senior Software Developer to help build the next generation of our medical data platform. You'll be a key contributor to our engineering team, working hands-on with our existing Django and React applications while also helping shape the future of our AI-driven architecture on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

You’ll collaborate with engineers and the product owner to develop secure, scalable, and high-performing applications across both legacy and modern platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

New Platform Development (GCP): Build robust, scalable features and services in our new AI-enhanced platform on GCP.
AI & ML Integration: Contribute to inhouse AI models and intelligent automation for the platform.
Maintain & Improve Existing Systems: Contribute to the upkeep and evolution of our Django application, with a focus on performance and maintainability.
API & Integration Work: Design and develop clean, well-documented APIs and integrations for internal and external use.
Contribute to Engineering Excellence: Champion best practices in software design, code quality, testing, and DevOps in a collaborative team setting.

Experience Required:

5+ years of hands-on software development experience
Strong proficiency in Python, with Django experience preferred
Experience working with PostgreSQL, NoSQL, and REST APIs
Familiarity with either AWS and GCP cloud platforms
Exposure to or interest in AI/ML integration in software systems
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communicator and collaborator within a cross-functional team

Nice to Haves:

Experience with GCP AI tools or ML frameworks
Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, or microservices
Healthcare or health-tech domain experience
Experience with large-scale data pipelines or healthcare interoperability

Our Tech Stack

Backend: Python, Django
Frontend: React, HTML/CSS
Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, FHIR Store
Infrastructure: AWS, GCP (main platform), Kubernetes
AI/ML: Integration with document classification, NLP, and generative AI tooling
