Project Mission
You'll be instrumental in managing and scaling our leading telecommunications client's cloud infrastructure modernization initiative. This team recently transitioned from on-premises infrastructure to AWS and is rapidly expanding their cloud footprint. You'll work with 20+ AWS sub-accounts supporting critical business platforms including location services, data analytics, and operational systems across multiple geographic locations. With multi-cloud expansion planned for 2026, this role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of enterprise cloud transformation in the telecommunications industry.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
Manage enterprise-scale AWS environments across multiple accounts and regions
Install, configure, and troubleshoot cloud platforms and services
Implement security best practices including patching schedules and vulnerability remediation
Collaborate with development teams to provision infrastructure and resolve issues
Monitor and optimize cloud costs, providing regular reporting and recommendations
Handle both operational maintenance and strategic platform improvements
Manage high-priority tickets and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment
Troubleshoot Windows and Unix/Linux systems in hybrid cloud environments
Participate in knowledge sharing and cross-training initiatives
Provide clear documentation and communication for all technical work
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience with AWS cloud platform services
3+ years of hands-on experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code
Strong expertise in Windows and Unix/Linux server administration
Proven experience managing hybrid cloud environments (on-premises + cloud)
Experience with AWS security best practices and vulnerability management
Proficiency with scripting languages (Bash, Shell, Python)
Experience with AWS Inspector and vulnerability remediation processes
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
Ability to provide accurate estimates and meet deadlines consistently
Preferred Qualifications
AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, Security Specialty)
Experience with AWS Systems Manager for patch automation
Knowledge of cloud cost optimization strategies
Experience with CloudWatch and monitoring tools
Familiarity with ITIL processes and enterprise ticketing systems
Background in telecommunications or large enterprise environments
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
Cybersecurity or vulnerability management background
Understanding of cloud networking concepts
Role Details
Location: Charlotte, NC
Hybrid: CLT (4 days on-site, 1 day remote)
Duration: 1 year contract with strong potential for FTE conversion
