Key Responsibilities
GCVE Management and Integration:
Design, deploy, and manage GCVE environments, ensuring seamless integration with existing GCP services and on-premises infrastructure.
Migrate workloads from traditional VMware environments to GCVE, optimizing for performance, cost, and security.
Implement automation strategies for provisioning, scaling, and managing GCVE private clouds.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Configuration as Code (CaC):
Utilize Terraform for the automated provisioning and management of infrastructure across GCP and GCVE environments.
Employ Ansible for robust configuration management and software deployment, ensuring consistency and compliance across the hybrid cloud footprint.
CI/CD Pipeline Management:
Develop, maintain, and optimize end-to-end CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, enabling rapid and reliable application and infrastructure delivery.
Security and Compliance (DevSecOps):
Embed security throughout the development lifecycle, implementing continuous security testing, vulnerability scanning, and compliance checks.
Define and manage IAM policies, network security groups, and access controls within both GCP and GCVE environments.
Ensure all infrastructure changes adhere to internal policies and industry regulations.
Collaboration and Best Practices:
Collaborate closely with development, security, and operations teams to foster a culture of shared responsibility and continuous improvement.
Champion IaC, CaC, and DevSecOps best practices, providing mentorship and technical leadership to other engineers.
Monitoring and Operational Excellence:
Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Stackdriver) to ensure high availability and proactive incident response for all hybrid infrastructure.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience: 5+ years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering role.
GCVE Expertise: Strong practical experience with Google Cloud VMware Engine, including deployment, operations, networking, and migration strategies.
Cloud Platforms: Proficiency in Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Experience with other major cloud providers (AWS/Azure) is a bonus.
Automation Tools: Expert-level knowledge of Terraform and Ansible.
Version Control & CI/CD: Strong proficiency with GitLab and GitLab CI/CD for version control, collaboration, and automation.
Security & Compliance: Solid understanding of cloud security principles, network security, IAM, and experience implementing security controls in CI/CD pipelines.
Networking: Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including VPCs, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and connecting on-prem to cloud environments.
Problem Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on automation and efficiency.
