About Mentalyc:
At Mentalyc, we’re reimagining how therapy is supported. Our mission is to make therapists’ lives easier, reduce burnout, and give them back the time and energy to focus on what matters most—their clients.
We believe therapy should be more effective, measurable, and deeply human. That’s why we combine the best of AI with the wisdom of clinicians, turning session notes and treatment planning into tools that empower therapists rather than overwhelm them.
What drives us is not just technology, but the impact it has on the people who use it: less paperwork, clearer insights, and stronger therapeutic relationships. Every feature we build starts with one question—how can this make a therapist’s work lighter and more meaningful?
We’re building a future where therapists are supported, not burdened, by technology. And we won’t stop until therapy feels more fulfilling—for both clinicians and clients.
What We Offer:
Opportunity to work at the intersection of psychotherapy, AI, and cutting-edge technology.
Collaborative work environment with a diverse and international team.
A remote-first, flexible environment where outcomes matter more than hours.
Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications.
Role Overview
Mentalyc is building a best-in-class supervision feature for therapists and trainees. We’re seeking a Clinical Supervisor (Product Advisor) to serve as our domain expert--translating real-world supervision practice into clear workflows, templates, and guardrails. You’ll use your own supervision experience, conduct structured interviews with supervisors/supervisees, and perform desktop research across licensure bodies to help us design ethical, practical tools that supervisors actually love.
Scope note: This is a non-clinical, advisory role. You will not provide therapy or ongoing clinical supervision to Mentalyc users; you’ll advise product on how supervision should work in-app (documentation, competencies, hours tracking, feedback loops, and safeguards).
Responsibilities
Map the supervision journey: Define core use cases (individual, group/triadic, live vs. async, cross-state supervision) and pain points for supervisors and supervisees.
Translate practice → product: Specify workflows for goals/learning plans, competencies, case presentations, feedback & remediation, and hour logging/verification.
Design documentation: Co-create templates and rubrics (supervision agreement, session note, competency checklists, remediation plans, incident/risk flags).
Research & synthesis: Conduct desk research on supervision norms and board requirements (e.g., hours, formats, documentation expectations) and synthesize into pragmatic product guidelines.
Voice of the field: Interview 10–20 clinicians (supervisors/supervisees), summarize insights, and prioritize feature requirements with Product/ML.
Guardrails & ethics: Recommend boundaries for scope (no therapy, no diagnosis), escalation cues, confidentiality standards, and culturally responsive language.
Requirements
US-licensed clinician (e.g., Psychologist, LCSW, LMFT, LPC/LPCC) who has supervised or been formally supervised in a licensure pathway.
3–7+ years clinical experience with strong supervision literacy (agreements, goal-setting, competency development, documentation).
Excellent clinical writing; can separate observation, inference, and recommendation; clear, non-pathologizing language.
Comfortable conducting interviews, doing desktop research, and collaborating with product/design/ML.
Familiarity with supervision ethics and guidance (e.g., APA/ACA/NASW/AAMFT tenets) and HIPAA-conscious practices.
Organized, outcome-focused; able to produce crisp deliverables on a part-time cadence.
Nice-to-Haves
Multi-state supervision experience or knowledge of differing board expectations.
Experience designing training programs, practicums, or EHR/supervision templates.
Background with outcomes or competency frameworks (e.g., PCOMS, FIT, CT/MI competency measures).
Prior product advisory, QA, or human-in-the-loop work with digital tools.
Work Setup
Type: Independent contractor (advisory).
Location: United States, remote.
Time: ~5–10 hrs/week for 8–12 weeks (extendable).
Data: De-identified or synthetic materials only; non-clinical, non-diagnostic scope.
Deliverables (examples)
Supervision journey map and prioritized requirements.
A suite of templates/rubrics (agreement, session note, competencies, feedback, remediation, hour log).
Research brief summarizing cross-state norms and practical constraints.
Pilot test report with acceptance criteria and improvement recommendations.
6–10 micro-tips for in-app education.
