Lead Software Engineer (Python / AWS) – Long-term Contract - Hybrid

**This position is onsite Mon-Thu in Plano, TX**

Optomi, in partnership with a financial services company, is seeking Senior Software Engineers with strong experience in Python to join their Software and Data Engineering organization. This is a hands-on development role focused on designing clean, scalable, and maintainable Python code. The goal is to create shared tooling and software frameworks that increase productivity and consistency across teams by standardizing how Python-based systems are built, tested, and deployed.

This is a long-term, renewing contract position with the opportunity to convert to full time.

Designing and developing reusable Python frameworks and libraries that streamline data engineering work
Building tools and packages that enable other teams to work more efficiently

Experience of the right candidate:

5+ years of professional Python development experience
Experience with FastAPI, Django, or Flask
Experience with AWS Cloud
Solid understanding of data engineering concepts (pipelines, ETL, or data processing)
Experience developing internal tooling, frameworks, or shared packages for data or analytics teams
Strong communication and collaboration skills in multi-team environments

We will be putting a high emphasis on:

Writing clean, efficient, and well-documented Python code
Building reusable components and frameworks that scale across teams
Enabling data engineers and analysts to work more productively
Demonstrating initiative and ownership in designing technical solutions
