Our client is a high-growth technology company transforming how complex industries operate through innovative software and data solutions. They are seeking their first Head of Engineering to lead and scale a talented engineering team while driving the technical direction of their product suite.

About the Role

As Head of Engineering, you’ll own the engineering function, managing a multidisciplinary team across frontend, backend, and machine learning. You’ll be a hands-on leader, setting technical standards, contributing to code and architecture decisions, and ensuring the team delivers high-quality, scalable solutions that create real business impact.

Key responsibilities include:

Engineering leadership: Mentor and grow a team of engineers, foster technical excellence, and expand team capabilities as the company scales internationally.
Hands-on execution: Participate in architecture, design, and coding as needed, while removing blockers and driving delivery on high-priority initiatives.
R&D direction: Partner with Product to ensure ML and data science projects are effective, scalable, and aligned with business goals.
Security & compliance: Take ownership of infosec responsibilities until a dedicated function exists, including application and network security, access controls, and compliance readiness (SOC2, GDPR, ISO).

You are a technically strong, value-driven engineering leader who thrives in fast-moving, scale-up environments. You combine deep technical expertise with a focus on delivering business outcomes, and you believe that the best solutions come from iteration, collaboration, and smart experimentation.

Strong hands-on technical ability across software development, architecture, and engineering best practices
Focus on delivering business value over strict adherence to processes or methodologies
Clear, pragmatic communication and ability to build strong relationships across functions
Comfort with ambiguity and a creative approach to solving complex problems
Strong people leadership and team-building skills

Bonus experience:

Experience in startups or scale-ups, balancing competing priorities and building scalable processes
Proven ability to structure and grow engineering teams through different stages of growth
