Our Senior Application Developer provides technical expertise in the design, development, and operation of new and existing custom software applications for the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA).

A key focus of this role is supporting and enhancing the Salesforce Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Public Sector Solutions, and Marketing Cloud systems used by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) for data management, licensing and inspection —including their maintenance, administration, and ongoing modernization. These systems operate on a cloud-hosted, serverless platform built using modern development tools, methodologies, and best practices. The MDA is working to implement a Salesforce solution to meet a diverse and robust set of business and technical needs, and this individual will be working as part of a dynamic, fast paced, and growing Product Team.

In this role, you will:

Design, develop and implement Salesforce solutions, ensuring they align with business needs and technical standards.

Provide architectural guidance and hands-on development support across multiple Salesforce applications and integrations.

Evaluate, recommend and implement emerging Salesforce technologies and best practices to enhance system performance, scalability, and security.

Participate in the Salesforce product team by bringing ideas, knowledge, and skills needed to accomplish assigned tasks, design solutions and implement strategies.

This position requires an employee to be onsite at 625 North Robert St Saint Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location. Telework for Minnesota IT Services is available on a limited basis. Employees will be required to meet current telework eligibility requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT related experience in Salesforce Development.

Experience must include:

Salesforce platform development and customization.
Apex classes, triggers, Visualforce pages, and Lighting components.
Experience working with SQL data stores or SOQL within Salesforce.
Experience working with SQL databases and data integration within Salesforce.
Experience with cloud services, including Logic Apps and Jave integration.
Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree subs
