Level 2 NOC Engineer
Location: Home-based (UK) or South Wales
Salary/Rate: £250 Per Day
Contract Type: 6-month contract, Monday to Friday, standard office hours (8am-5pm or 9am-6pm)

Overview: Fuel Recruitment is working with a telecommunications organisation that's looking for a Level 2 NOC Engineer to join their team on a 6-month contract. This role is focused on advanced troubleshooting and resolution of complex network and infrastructure issues, supporting both remote and on-site teams. The successful candidate will play a key part in diagnosing and resolving high-impact incidents, collaborating with engineering teams and vendors. The position is available for immediate start, with interviews to be arranged promptly.
Key Responsibilities:
Take ownership of escalated tickets from Level 1 NOC or Service Desk teams, delivering in-depth troubleshooting for network, server, and connectivity issues.
Perform detailed diagnostics using logs, traces, and advanced tools to isolate faults across LAN, WAN, wireless, and security infrastructure.
Liaise with vendors and internal engineering teams to resolve complex or persistent incidents, including hardware failures and configuration errors.
Document all troubleshooting steps, findings, and resolutions in the ticketing system.
Participate in root cause analysis for major incidents and contribute to continuous improvement processes.
Support field engineers and on-site teams with remote diagnostics and technical guidance.
Maintain and update technical documentation, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
Ensure all work complies with SLAs and internal quality standards.
Key Skills/Experience:
Strong experience troubleshooting network devices (Routers, Switches, Firewalls), server platforms, and enterprise Wi-Fi.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as Wireshark, traceroute, and log analysis.
Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, VLANs, and authentication systems.
Excellent analytical and communication skills, able to explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Typically requires 3+ years in a NOC or network support environment.
Relevant certifications (eg, CCNA, CompTIA Network+) preferred.
