Durham Continuing Education is the Durham District School Board’s program for its adult daytime program as well as many continuing education programs. While the core business of Continuing Education is funded by the Ministry of Education, partnerships with MLITSD, IRCC, MCI and MCSS support Continuing Education programming.

INTERNATIONAL and INDIGENOUS LANGUAGE ELEMENTARY SUPPLY INSTRUCTOR (MARATHI)

LOCATION: R.S. McLaughlin CVI, 570 Stevenson Rd N, Oshawa, ON L1J 5P1

TIME: 6:00 P.M. - to 8:30 P.M. – Wednesday evenings

Program Description

The International & Indigenous Languages Elementary Program provides opportunities for all students to develop new language competencies and cultural understandings that will allow them to function effectively both in Canada’s multicultural society and in the international community. The program focuses on four skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The classes are multi-level and students for this program can range in age from Junior Kindergarten age to grade 8 ages. Instruction will be delivered in person, Wednesday evenings starting October 1, 2025 and going until May 13, 2026, at McLaughlin CVI in Oshawa.

Major Duties

Use a variety of assessment strategies to identify students’ needs and develop long and short-term plans to meet these needs and program objectives.
Prepare a range of appropriate resources to encourage language learning.
Plan, deliver, and coordinate a program that is optimal for language learning and that reflects current teaching practices in Ontario.
Provide students with a language program that is appropriate to their abilities and the level of their individual language experience and consistent with the curriculum guidelines of DCE.
Use a variety of appropriate instructional strategies, age-appropriate materials and design activities and tasks to guide and further student learning.

Qualifications

Fluency in reading, writing, speaking Marathi.
Ability to teach reading, writing, speaking of Marathi.
Experience teaching elementary age students an asset.
