Role: Project Manager - Enterprise Data Governance and AI Projects

Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to lead enterprise-wide data governance initiatives and artificial intelligence (AI) implementation projects at TC Energy. This pivotal role is designed for a results-oriented leader with deep expertise in data strategy, governance frameworks, and AI deployment within the energy sector. The Project Manager will be responsible for orchestrating complex, cross-functional projects that advance the organization's digital transformation, optimize data assets, and uphold the highest standards of compliance, data stewardship, and business value realization.
Service Mandate
The Project Manager is entrusted to plan, organize, and successfully deliver large-scale data governance and AI projects that elevate TC Energy’s enterprise data capabilities. By coordinating cross-functional teams, the Project Manager will implement data standards, governance policies, and cutting-edge AI solutions, ensuring full alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements. This role bridges technical, business, and operational resources to harmonize data governance with AI-driven innovation.
Key Accountabilities
Project Delivery & Execution
• Lead the full project lifecycle for data governance and AI initiatives—from initial conception, requirements definition, and stakeholder engagement through implementation, production release, and project closure.
• Direct the management of production releases and system deployments for advanced data platforms and AI tools, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption to business operations.
• Monitor and enforce strict adherence to TC Energy’s change management protocols and established PMO standards.
• Deliver assigned projects within agreed timeframes, budget constraints, and defined scope parameters, consistently meeting and exceeding expectations for excellence.
Data Governance Leadership
• Design, implement, and continually refine enterprise data governance and AI frameworks, policies, and procedures to safeguard data quality and enable trustworthy AI.
• Coordinate data quality initiatives.
• Manage complex projects involving data classification, lineage mapping, and metadata management to ensure transparency and traceability across TC Energy’s data landscape.
• Ensure rigorous compliance with data privacy regulations, industry standards, and internal governance requirements throughout all project phases.
AI Project Specialization
• Lead artificial intelligence and machine learning project implementations, guiding teams through requirements gathering, model development, validation, and deployment.
• Coordinate cross-functional integration of AI solutions within existing enterprise systems, ensuring business needs are translated into robust, actionable technical specifications.
• Oversee initiatives focused on responsible AI governance, including ethics, bias mitigation, and regulatory compliance for machine learning models and automated decision systems.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
• Present project status, key milestones, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations to steering committees and senior management, facilitating informed decision-making.
• Coordinate with Technical, Business, Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams, as well as external vendors and regulatory bodies, to ensure all requirements and deliverables are met.
• Manage relationships with internal customers across all TC Energy business units and with technology partners, fostering collaboration and stakeholder satisfaction.
• Facilitate training sessions and change management activities for new data governance and AI-powered business capabilities, ensuring smooth adoption and sustained business impact.
Resource Coordination & Risk Management
• Assess and allocate required technical resources in line with project needs, project charters, and business priorities.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks unique to data governance and AI projects, including data privacy, regulatory non-compliance, organizational change and technology integration challenges.
• Coordinate with Cybersecurity Architecture teams to conduct security assessments and address vulnerabilities in enterprise data and AI platforms.
• Oversee budget planning, forecasting, and expenditure tracking, ensuring optimal use of resources and transparency in financial reporting.
