Company Description

Echolon is an early-stage business intelligence startup based in Portland, Oregon. We build an AI-driven dashboard that helps small and mid-size businesses understand their data, forecast performance, and automate daily operations.

Our platform is built with modern tools—Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Streamlit, and the OpenAI API—and we’re preparing for our first pilot customers and a pre-seed round.

We’re a focused, fast-moving team operating out of the Portland State University ecosystem and supported by mentors from Oregon’s tech and innovation community. Our goal is simple: give SMBs the kind of clarity and forecasting power usually reserved for large companies.

As a Software/AI Engineering Intern at Echolon, you’ll work directly with our engineering team on the systems that power our AI dashboard. This is a technical, hands-on role where you’ll contribute to real features, help improve our backend, and get exposure to modern AI development.

You’ll be involved in:

Model Integration & AI Features
Work with the OpenAI API and forecasting models (Prophet, XGBoost, etc.) to help build predictive insights into the dashboard.
Data Pipelines & Backend Logic
Assist with connecting data sources, cleaning datasets, and supporting the architecture behind our Python + FastAPI backend.
API Development
Help implement API endpoints, test functionality, and support the flow between FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and the front-end interface.
Dashboard Development (Streamlit)
Collaborate on building new dashboard components, improving UI elements, and making the product smoother for SMB users.
Technical Documentation & Architecture Discussions
Work alongside the engineering team on planning, documenting features, and improving internal clarity around our systems.
