About The Role

For informal enquiries, please contact Federico Rossi (Associate Professor) at F.Rossi@warwick.ac.uk

This is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position supporting a grant-funded research project led by Dr Federico Rossi (University of Warwick).

The project, funded by an ERC/UKRI Starting Grant 2023, is titled “Human Capital, the Organization of Production and Economic Development”. The aim of the project is to leverage micro-level data from multiple countries and novel theoretical frameworks to shed light on how the accumulation and utilization of different types of skills is shaped by and can facilitate the adaptation to some of the most pressing challenges faced by the global economy: population ageing, climate change, and the reallocation of workers across economic activities.

The position does not require any teaching, but individuals will have the opportunity to apply for temporary teaching in the Department of Economics if desired. The post is expected to start in Summer 2026 (exact date flexible) and is initially for 1 year, with the possibility to renew it for a second year.

Excellent academic mentoring will be offered alongside opportunities to attend conferences related to the project.

About You

The position is suitable for someone having completed or close to completing a PhD in Economics or related fields, with a particular focus on topics at the intersection of macroeconomics, development and growth. The successful candidate will have a strong background in data analysis as well as modelling and computational methods.

The position will involve undertaking research in order to support the work of the department, the Principal Investigator and, where appropriate, project collaborators in the successful execution of the project.

For details on the experience and skills required, please refer to the job description attached as a PDF below.

PhD Status

If you are near submission of your PhD, or have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made at Research Assistant level, at the highest spinal point of pay grade 5 (£34,610 per annum).

Upon receipt of evidence confirming the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow, at the lowest spinal point of grade 6 (£35,608 per annum).
