Senior Staff Backend Engineer

Location: Remote (EST Time Zone/ Canada)

Type: Contract to Hire (C2H)

Our client is an established player in the alternative investments space, empowering individuals to access private markets through an intuitive and powerful digital platform. They're passionate about simplifying private investing, making it smarter, faster, and more transparent.

Now, they're looking for a Senior Staff Backend Engineer to help take their platform to the next level.

What You'll Do:

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll drive backend design and development, ensuring the platform is scalable, secure, and performant.

You'll work across the full development lifecycle, from architecture to deployment, while mentoring other engineers and influencing technical direction.

Day to day, you'll:

Lead backend development for a fast-growing investment platform.
Design and build high-performance Python services and APIs.
Model complex financial workflows using PostgreSQL.
Oversee CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, migrations, and more.
Mentor engineers and foster a strong engineering culture.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless experiences.

What You Bring:

Strong backend engineering experience.
Experience working with Django (or similar) in production environments.
Expertise in Python and PostgreSQL (schema design, query optimization, migrations, etc.).
Hands-on cloud experience (GCP preferred, AWS or Azure welcome).
Experience leading projects or teams.
Exposure to frontend frameworks like Next.js or React. is a plus.
Previous experience in fintech, investment technology or start ups.
