Competitive Day Rate

Contract until 31st March 2026 - potential extension but not guaranteed.

As a Senior BA, you will lead the analysis and discovery workshops of complex business problems and drive the development of effective, user-centred solutions. You will work directly with the Project delivery team and Multi-Functional teams to guide them through discovery and delivery phases, mentor junior analysts, and ensure alignment with strategic objectives and Civil Service standards. This role will be working on the Enterprise Inheritance Tax Digitisation Programme, a major programme for HMRC.

Key Responsibilities:

-Lead the discovery and analysis of business needs, processes, and requirements.

-Facilitate workshops and stakeholder engagement to elicit and validate requirements.

-Produce high-quality artefacts including business cases, process maps, and user stories.

-Support agile delivery teams by refining backlogs and defining acceptance criteria.

-Champion user-centred design and ensure compliance with GDS standards.

-Mentor and support junior analysts, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.

-Influence decision-making through evidence-based analysis and stakeholder collaboration.

-Ensure appropriate sign off and assurance for each discovery and process map

Essential Criteria:

-Significant experience as a BA in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.

-Proven ability to lead requirements gathering and analysis activities.

-Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

-Experience working in agile delivery teams and using agile tools and techniques.

-Understanding of GDS service standards and user-centred design principles.

Desirable Criteria:

-Experience in the public sector or on government digital transformation programmes.

-Certification in Business Analysis (e.g., BCS, IIBA) or Agile methodologies.

-Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, MS Visio, or similar.

-Awareness of data protection, accessibility, and security considerations.
