Fulcrum Technology Solutions is on the hunt for a Security Engineer to support a client in Houston. This will be 1-3 days on site with some remote flexibility.

This is a straight contract position, but the client mentioned there is a possibility for conversion.

The Cyber Security Engineer will play a key role in protecting the organization’s systems and data by identifying vulnerabilities, configuring and maintaining security tools, and supporting incident response efforts. This position is ideal for a hands-on security professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and wants to grow into a long-term role.

Responsibilities:

• Support Identity and Access Management (IAM) initiatives, with a focus on Azure SSO and Okta (required).

• Drive the vulnerability management program by identifying, tracking, and prioritizing security risks, and collaborating with IT and development teams to ensure timely remediation (required).

• Maintain and monitor security tools such as IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and SIEM systems.

• Participate in incident response, including investigation, containment, and reporting.

• Assist in developing and enforcing security policies and procedures.

• Conduct routine audits to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

• Stay current on emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices.

• Maintain detailed documentation of security incidents, configurations, and changes.

• Provide technical support and guidance to IT staff on security-related matters.

• Apply best practices across network, endpoint, cloud, and application security.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.

• 2–5 years of experience in cybersecurity or a related discipline.

• Relevant certifications (Security+, CEH, CySA+, etc.) are preferred but not required.

• Strong understanding of security tools, technologies, and frameworks.

• Solid grasp of networking, operating systems, and cloud security fundamentals.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly.
