About the Role

We are seeking a Security Architect (Freelance) to join our client’s Security Team for a 12-month hybrid engagement in Brussels. This is a mission-critical opportunity to shape and secure the digital landscape of a major organization, ensuring robust protection of digital assets and compliance with evolving standards. What You’ll Be Doing

Define and contribute to the implementation of the organization’s cybersecurity strategy within the Security Team
Design, develop, and monitor the digital security architecture, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance requirements
Apply risk-based architectural principles to all digital initiatives, ensuring robust and adaptive security postures
Lead or participate in the creation and execution of the digital security roadmap
Drive the evolution of security operations to prevent, detect, process, predict, and handle security-related incidents
Increase the maturity of security management by strengthening capabilities in line with strategic goals
Champion security and privacy by design across ICT and business projects
Promote and implement best security practices in software development processes

What We’re Looking For

Proven expertise as a Security Architect, with recent hands-on experience in network and cyber security
Deep understanding of security frameworks, risk management, and compliance standards
Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business needs into secure, scalable solutions
Ownership mindset: proactive, accountable, and driven to deliver impact
Strong communication skills to engage stakeholders and lead security initiatives
Experience in hybrid work environments and cross-functional teams

Technical Skills

Cyber Security (Expert level, recent experience required)
Mandiant Redline (Confirmed proficiency)
Microsoft PowerShell (Confirmed proficiency)
Trellix Endpoint (Confirmed proficiency)
Trellix Mail (Confirmed proficiency)
Zscaler (Confirmed proficiency)

Language Proficiency

Native proficiency in Dutch or French
Active knowledge of English

Other Requirements

Availability for a 12-month freelance contract (full-time)
Hybrid work model: on-site in Brussels and remote
Engagement subject to public procurement law
