Role Title: Quality Inspector (Fixed-Term)

Reporting Line: The Quality Inspector (Fixed Term) will report to the Head of Quality.

Department Overview

The Operations function (which includes Manufacturing, Vessel Operations, Supply Chain, Quality and Facilities) is responsible for ensuring the on-time, on-cost, and on-specification delivery of products to include the eFoiler® systems and high-speed vessels. This includes all of the operational aspects of supply chain and manufacturing, as well as the supporting facilities and equipment.

The Quality department will ensure that quality is designed-in, that suppliers are capable and that the appropriate validation and verification is planned and implemented to enable right first-time delivery of Artemis Technologies’ products that fulfil customer and regulatory requirements.

The Role

The Quality Inspector will have responsibility for working with the wider organisation to agree, define and implement the highest quality standards possible within Artemis Technologies. Part of the role will be to take ownership to monitor the quality of the process, vessels and eFoiler® systems throughout the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

Complete various inspections, audits and testing to ATL Quality Standards goods inwards and throughout the manufacturing process.
Recording the results of inspections / tests, identifying, diagnosing and categorising defects / issues if they occur.
Validation of defects / issues that have been rectified during the manufacturing process.
Communicate clearly and concisely all customer requirements to all relevant internal and external of products or services which may affect customer satisfaction.
Implement inspection methods, quality sign-off instructions, quality standards, FMEA’s, process sheets and inspection checklists for new and existing products.
Analyse data and trends to identify issues during manufacturing and communicate with relevant departments to eliminate defects at source.
Contribute internal and external quality reviews to ensure that all products and process achieve the desired level of quality and reliability.
Liaise with customers to resolve any issues or complaints ensuring timely and effective root cause analysis as well as implementing and monitoring containment and preventive actions.
Update and review quality documentation to carry forwards lessons learnt into new products and customers.
Ensure that all measuring and monitoring equipment is calibrated as per the ATL schedule.
Support the Continuous Improvement Philosophy within the team and throughout the company via 8D reviews, CAPA plans and 5S and Kaizen events.
Support the training of apprentices, technicians and engineers in quality philosophies, tools, and techniques especially in relation to high value composite and electric drivetrain manufacturing.
Promoting health and safety awareness within the Quality team.
Support the implementation of IT systems, software and digital tools where required.
Comply with ATL’s policies and procedures.
Contribute to shaping a culture that reflects ATL Values and enables ATL to achieve its goals.
Build good working relationships across the ATL’s business.

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications and Experience:

Required

3 years of experience inspecting / testing components in a high complexity low volume business.
Demonstrable experience of working in quality function within a manufacturing environment.

Preferred

Experience in the application of quality tools for complex composite components.
Knowledge about maritime industry quality standards and requirements.
Knowledge about zero emission quality standards and requirements.
