Software Developer (Mid-Level)

Location: Baltimore, MD (Must reside within 20 miles – strictly enforced)

Schedule: Onsite Tue, Wed, Thu (may increase to 4–5 days later)

Duration: 24 Months

Type: Contractor (Backfill role)

Role Overview

This role supports internal applications related to Outage Management and Operations. The developer will participate in system enhancements, maintenance activities, and on-call support for critical production environments.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise applications.
Support Oracle database development, reporting, and data integrations.
Build and troubleshoot Java/J2EE, Python, and web-based services.
Perform WebLogic administration and Unix/Linux environment scripting.
Participate in on-call rotation and support during outage/storm response.
Follow established source control and change control procedures.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
6–8+ years of hands-on software development experience.
Strong working experience with:
JAVA / J2EE, Python, Unix/Linux scripting
Oracle Database, PL/SQL, data models, interface development, and reporting solutions
WebLogic administration or equivalent application server administration
Ability to analyze, debug, and resolve complex technical issues.
Strong communication and team collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

Web and UI development experience (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, JSP).
Integration or ETL experience (e.g., Informatica) is beneficial.
Experience in utility industry or Electric Operations is a plus (not mandatory).

Important Notes (Non-Negotiable)

This is a fully onsite role – currently 3 days/week, expected to increase to 4–5 days/week.
Only local candidates living within 20 miles of Baltimore will be considered (strict business requirement).
Candidates must be willing and able to support on-call rotation as part of the role.
