• This position is hybrid in Windsor Mill, MD. The resource is required to be on-site on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 8 AM-5 PM.
• Candidates must be located within 20 miles or less of Baltimore, MD.
Overview
Our client, a leading Gas & Electric Utility company, is seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator to join their Outage Management System IT Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling additional work on internal projects, providing on-call support, and participating in Capital projects. This role requires expertise in WebLogic administration, along with strong secondary skills in Unix and Windows administration at an enterprise level. Applies technical expertise to plan, design, build or support required products and processes. Support your team via on-call rotation and during storm events as needed
Key responsibilities include:
• Administer and support WebLogic server environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Manage and maintain Unix and Windows servers at an enterprise level, including installation, configuration, patching, and monitoring.
• Provide on-call support for critical outages and production issues, ensuring prompt resolution.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support internal projects and Capital projects.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to server environments, middleware, and applications.
• Develop and maintain system documentation, including architecture diagrams, configuration guides, and standard operating procedures.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing, ensuring systems are recoverable in case of failures.
Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline and typically 6 to 8 years experience in (Oracle DB Technologies – data model, interfaces, SQL reporting solutions ) or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Appropriate technical skills - Extensive experience demonstrating skill performing analysis, design, programming and testing in procedural languages (JAVA, J2EE, JMS, Python, .Net, Web applications, Web services C++, .Net, Unix scripting/operating systems, etc.)
• Strong problem solving and analysis ability.
• Excellent communications skills (written and verbal)
• Strong knowledge of IT Change Control and Source Control methodologies.
• Knowledge of business practices pertaining to Electric Operations.
Preferred Skills & Experience
• Experience with Oracle’s DB concepts and associated DB languages ( PLSQL, SQL,etc.)
• Experience with Application web server configuration and associated web languages (html, JS, CSS, JSP)
• Experience with the Object Oriented paradigm.
• Experience in skills like Java Swing, J2EE( JMS, JDBC, Java beans), Web services, Weblogic administration, etc.
• Experience in any Integration technology, ETL products (Informatica) and BI reporting.
• Experience demonstrating skill creating and supporting applications across multi-platform environments.
• Experience demonstrating skill using formal IT change control philosophy to administer various tiers of enterprise-level applications (development, stage, production). Includes creating formal change control documentation
