At Crossing Hurdles, we work as a referral partner. We refer candidates to Mercor that collaborates with world’s leading AI research labs to build and train cutting-edge AI models.

Organization: Mercor

Position: Machine Learning Engineer

Referral Partner: Crossing Hurdles

Type: Hourly Contract

Compensation: $80-120/hour

Location: Remote

Duration: 1-2 months (with potential extension)

Commitment: 10-40 hrs/week, flexible and asynchronous

Role Responsibilities (Training support will be provided)

Compile external ML competitions into realistic, challenging tasks involving model training, dataset preparation, and experimentation
Draft detailed, executable natural language plans for completing machine learning engineering tasks
Implement these plans in Python code within a provided Docker environment
Validate code outputs against original plans and document any discrepancies

Requirements

Strong years of experience in applied machine learning or a PhD in machine learning or a closely related field
Strong Python engineering skills, particularly in model training and data handling workflows
Familiarity with Docker-based development environments
Detail-oriented mindset with ability to follow technical specifications precisely
Experience in ML reproducibility, benchmarking, or experimental validation (preferred)
Ability to work independently under compliance-aligned protocols
Access to a desktop or laptop computer (Chromebooks are not supported)
