Trust Payments has an exciting opportunity for a Group Data Protection Officer (Part-Time) to join their team.
Location: London Hybrid- Part Time (3 days a week)

How will you make an impact in this role?
The Role:
The DPO is responsible for overseeing the organisation's compliance with data protection laws and regulations across the UK and Malta, including the UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and local legislation. This role ensures that personal data is processed lawfully, transparently, and securely, and that appropriate governance frameworks and controls are in place. The DPO acts as the main point of contact for data protection authorities, advises on privacy impact assessments, manages data subject rights requests, and promotes a culture of data protection awareness across the business
What We Expect of You, Day To Day:
Act as the organisation's formally appointed DPO and primary contact for the ICO (UK) and IDPC (Malta)
Monitor compliance with the UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and national data protection laws in both jurisdictions
Advise the executive leadership on privacy risk, regulatory developments, and compliance obligations
Develop and continuously improve the group-wide data protection strategy and privacy governance framework
Ensure the maintenance of comprehensive Records of Processing Activities (ROPA)
Oversee responses to regulatory enquiries, investigations, and audits
Manage and maintain Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) for both UK and Malta operations
Complete and document DPIAs for processing activities
Handle data subject rights requests (DSARs, right to erasure, etc.) within legal timeframes
Investigate and document personal data breaches, escalate high-risk incidents, and support regulatory reporting
Conduct vendor risk assessments and support data processing agreements (DPAs)
Embed privacy-by-design into product, service, and system design
Deliver and track data protection training and awareness initiatives
Respond to internal queries regarding GDPR and local data protection law obligations
Collaborate with IT Security, Compliance, Legal, and HR to ensure data protection measures are effectively implemented
Maintain documentation for audit readiness and internal assurance
Qualifications
Experience implementing data protection in an FCA or MFSA licensed business
Degree or equivalent work experience in a DPO role
Professional data protection qualifications
Experience in B2B environment with large client data sets for marketing purposes
Track record in supporting large-scale transformation related to GDPR
Expert knowledge and application of compliance within UK, Malta and EU Data Protection (GDPR) and privacy laws
Strong communication skills with ability to engage at C-Level
Pragmatic approach to data privacy
Collaborative problem solver with relationship-building skills
