Job Specifications
MoodysNWC is seeking a highly analytical, detail-driven Technical Analyst with strong pharmacy domain knowledge to support client’s multi-year transition to the NCPDP F6 pharmacy claims standard, mandated. This role centers on deep, field-level gap analysis, data mapping, and comparative evaluation across multiple partner eligibility and claims files. The ideal candidate will operate with high independence, produce audit-ready deliverables, and ultimately evolve into an SME who supports downstream story sizing, planning, and implementation activities. This is a specialized role requiring precision, strong analytical thinking, and an ability to quickly understand complex technical specifications with minimal guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Core Gap Analysis and Data Mapping
Translate the NCPDP F6 standard into a structured, analyzable Excel format (fields, IDs, meanings, definitions, lengths, data types).
Perform field-by-field comparison between partner files (e.g., CVS, Mad Impact, ESI CDL) and NCPDP F6 layout.
Identify and document all gaps, including:
Missing or mismatched fields
Definition and meaning inconsistencies
Length, datatype, and format discrepancies
Ambiguous or similar-name fields requiring interpretation
Determine justification for each gap and ensure analysis is defensible, auditable, and traceable.
2. Planning, Structuring, and Deliverable Ownership
Create a structured analytical approach and define comparison columns, criteria, assumptions, and logic prior to execution.
Produce high-quality, meticulous Excel-based gap analysis artifacts suitable for compliance, engineering intake, and executive review.
Present findings to the pharmacy product and eligibility teams, supporting decision-making on standard adoption, extensions, or required system changes.
3. SME Development and Future Program Support
Build domain expertise that will transition into a subject matter expert role across the NCPDP F6 implementation lifecycle.
Support future work including story sizing, scoping, SOW creation, roadmap development, and implementation planning.
Serve as a continuity resource through 2028 based on performance and budget.
4. Stakeholder Interaction
Collaborate with product managers and pharmacy services to validate findings, clarify assumptions, and align on next steps.
Operate largely independently day-to-day, requiring minimal check-ins or rework.
Required Qualifications
Proven experience as a Technical Analyst, Data Analyst, or Healthcare Business Analyst working with complex file formats.
Strong understanding of pharmacy data, eligibility files, and claims file structures (ESI CDL, eligibility formats, PBM data, etc.).
Expert-level Excel proficiency, including creating structured comparison models, custom layouts, and performing detailed data reviews.
Ability to read and interpret technical file specifications, data dictionaries, and healthcare data standards.
Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify subtle discrepancies across hundreds of fields.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal oversight and deliver high-quality, error-free analysis.
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, especially when interpreting ambiguous or partially aligned data elements.
Excellent documentation, organization, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience with NCPDP formats, particularly version F6 (eligibility and claims).
Experience with pharmacy benefits, PBM integrations, or healthcare payer systems.
Familiarity with SQL for structured data validation.
Python skills for cross-file validation, automated checks, or enhanced comparison logic.
Experience performing gap analysis across multiple partners or legacy healthcare systems.
Background operating in compliance-driven or audit-sensitive environments.
