Job Overview
Plan A Technologies is looking for a highly experienced Lead DevOps Engineer to oversee and evolve our cloud infrastructure, with a strong focus on AWS environments, disaster recovery planning, and operational excellence. This role will serve as a technical leader within the team, providing guidance, driving best practices, and acting as an escalation point for complex infrastructure and reliability challenges.
Please note: You must have at least 7+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering roles, and strong leadership experience to be considered for this role.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY
Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure in AWS.
Provide technical leadership to DevOps engineers, ensuring adherence to best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Define, maintain, and improve disaster recovery and business continuity strategies for critical systems.
Serve as the primary escalation point for infrastructure-related incidents, troubleshooting complex issues and coordinating resolution.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support efficient delivery across teams.
Oversee infrastructure observability, including monitoring, alerting, logging, and performance tuning.
Collaborate closely with engineering, security, and product teams to support system reliability and scalability.
Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual tasks and improve operational efficiency.
Ensure compliance with security and governance requirements across cloud and on-prem environments.
Experience
BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience
7+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering roles.
Strong expertise with AWS services (EC2, VPC, RDS, IAM, ECS/EKS, S3, CloudWatch, etc.).
Demonstrated experience leading infrastructure initiatives or DevOps teams.
Hands-on experience with disaster recovery, failover strategies, and high-availability architectures.
Strong troubleshooting skills and experience acting as an escalation point for critical production issues.
Proficiency with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK).
Experience with CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.).
Solid knowledge of Linux systems, networking, and security best practices.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams.
Have solid written and verbal English skills.
Ability to maintain a positive work attitude.
Initiative and drive to do great things.
Nice to Have
Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
Familiarity with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, New Relic).
Background implementing SOC 2, ISO 27001, or other compliance frameworks.
Scripting skills (Python, Bash, Go)
