Associate Director of Governance

Location: Hybrid – Central London & Home Working

Salary: Competitive + Benefits

Interim position (potential to become permanent)

We’re currently working on an exciting opportunity for an experienced governance professional to join a leading professional organisation as Associate Director of Governance.

This is a key leadership role, responsible for overseeing the organisation’s governance, risk, compliance, and audit functions. You’ll be working closely with senior leadership, Trustees and key committees to ensure that decision-making processes are robust, transparent and aligned with regulatory and internal standards.

The role includes:

Leading a small, experienced team across governance, risk, compliance, internal audit and data protection
Supporting the organisation’s governance structures, including the delivery of board and committee meetings, elections and internal reporting
Acting as the Data Protection Officer and ensuring compliance with GDPR and other regulations
Managing the corporate risk register, internal audit programme, and insurance renewals
Supporting the continuous improvement of governance and operational processes across the organisation

What we’re looking for:

Proven experience in a senior governance, legal or compliance role
Strong understanding of governance frameworks, regulatory obligations and data protection
Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and supporting high-level decision-making
Able to lead, influence and develop a team
Governance qualification (such as CGI) or equivalent experience desirable

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working across different areas, influencing strategy, and improving processes at an organisational level. Previous experience within a membership body or charity would be an advantage.
