Senior Back-End / ServiceNow Engineer – Onsite in Brussels

Start Date: May | ⏳ 6+ Month Contract | Hybrid

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Back-End Software Engineer with strong ServiceNow expertise to join our client in Brussels on a long-term contract. If you’re passionate about designing smart solutions, improving IT processes, and working in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment, this role is for you.

About the Role

As a Senior Back-End Engineer, you’ll bring 5+ years of experience designing and developing backend software applications, with responsibilities including:

Interpreting and refining functional and technical designs
Building program structures and updating design documentation
Creating and executing test cases
Reviewing code (self & peer review)
Fixing incidents and defects through to resolution
Executing technical integration testing with interfacing applications

Alongside your backend expertise, you will play a key role in ServiceNow process analysis and solution design, supporting core IT functions such as:

Asset & Configuration Management
Service Agreements & Release Management
Incident & Problem Management
Continuity & Operations Management
Future expansion into Vulnerability Management & Pentesting

What You’ll Do

Analyze, design, and test automations within the ServiceNow platform
Design and test integrations between ServiceNow (cloud) and other systems (on-prem or cloud)
Translate business requirements into robust technical designs
Troubleshoot complex incidents and ensure platform stability
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including the API Gateway team
Focus on architecture, analysis, and problem-solving (no scripting or coding required)

Who You Are

5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow experience (must)
Strong technical foundation with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Fluent in Dutch and English
Curious, eager to learn, and comfortable discussing IT infrastructure
Pragmatic and solution-driven, aiming for “fit for purpose” results
Basic understanding of JavaScript fundamentals or another programming language
