Job Specifications

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Front-End Developer to work for our client within the healthcare sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend up to 2 years and will be a hybrid role based in London or Leeds.

Our client is seeking an experienced Front-End Developer who is skilled in modern JavaScript frameworks. The ideal candidate will be willing to travel to the Leeds office twice a month.

Responsibilities

Develop accessible, responsive, as well as performant user interfaces using NextJs and React to meet complex healthcare service needs
Write clean, semantic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code that strictly adheres to W3C standards and GDS (Government Design System) principles
Collaborate closely with backend engineers to integrate frontend components with Python-based services and APIs
Leverage Terraform to manage and provision the frontend infrastructure (Infrastructure as Code) within a cloud environment
Participate in rapid prototyping to visualize solutions and iterate designs based on user research and stakeholder feedback
Champion accessibility (WCAG 2.1) and inclusive design, ensuring services are usable by all citizens regardless of ability
Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and cross-browser compatibility across different devices
Work effectively in a multidisciplinary Agile team, participating in code reviews, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups

About You

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Front-End Developer or similar
Expert proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks, specifically React and NextJs, with a strong portfolio of deployed applications
Solid experience with Python scripting or backend integration patterns
Deep understanding of core web technologies (HTML5, CSS3) and progressive enhancement
Demonstrable experience ensuring digital services meet strict accessibility standards (WCAG)
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Desirable

Practical knowledge of Terraform and CI/CD pipelines for deploying frontend applications
Experience working in the Healthcare or Public Sector (DDaT context)
