Functional BI Analyst
For an International client based in Strasbourg I am seeking a Functional BI Analyst. This is contract assignment which will run for the duration of 2026. The assignment is to be carried out on site at the customer offices in Strasbourg.
About the Role
The Functional BI Analyst will gather, analyse, and document business and functional requirements related to data warehousing and reporting. Act as the main liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams.
Responsibilities
Work closely with the Data Architect to translate business requirements into technical specifications and data models.
Support the design and evolution of the data warehouse (EDW) and BI solutions, including Data Lakes / Lakehouses.
Contribute to data modelling activities (conceptual, logical, and validation of physical schemas).
Support the design, implementation, and validation of ETL/data integration processes using tools (e.g. Airbyte, Airbyte connectors, Apache Data Fusion).
Assist in defining use cases, KPIs, and reporting logic for business insights.
Participate in data validation, data quality checks, and health monitoring using Apache Data Sketches.
Contribute to the design, development, and validation of BI reports and static outputs using Power BI, Tableau, or open-source equivalents.
Support testing activities (test cases, execution, UAT support) and ensure data accuracy.
Produce and maintain functional and technical documentation for BI solutions.
Assist with deployment, configuration, and operational support of BI solutions.
Participate in project meetings and collaborate with other IT and data teams.
Qualifications
Master's degree in IT and minimum 8 years of relevant IT experience.
Required Skills
Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and BI architectures.
Good knowledge of data modelling principles and relational database systems such as PostgreSQL.
Solid SQL skills for data analysis, reporting, and validation.
Experience with ETL/data integration tools such as Airbyte, Apache Data Fusion.
Familiarity with BI reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or open-source equivalents.
Understanding of data quality, validation, and monitoring concepts, including tools like Apache Data Sketches.
Exposure to cloud-based BI solutions (cloud, on-prem, or hybrid architectures).
Proficiency in English language at a minimum B2 level.
